A quality rope halter is essential for developing fair communication with your horse.
The flexibility and density of the rope promote learning by allowing the horse to better respond to applied pressures.

The ethical halter remains first and foremost a work tool. We do not recommend its use for tying up, in the pasture or in the trailer.
On foot, the flexibility and strength of the rope halter allow you to train your horse with precision.
Continuing this approach, by tying a lunge line to your ethical halter as reins, you also progress in ridden work: the weight of the knot helps the horse to feel your requests more subtly.

How to choose the size of your rope halter?
We recommend you base your choice on the size of the flat halter/bridle your horse already wears.
For example, if they usually wear a Cob, choose our Cob/M size.

The traditional knot for American halters is the fiador knot, also known as the diamond knot. More aesthetically pleasing, it also has the particularity of being perfectly balanced. It is the knot chosen by professionals.
The simple knot is a more stable knot. Simple knot halters were created to meet two needs:
- To be able to adjust the noseband.
The fiador knot is a technical knot and is only adjustable by expert hands. The simple knot allows it to be slightly loosened and moved higher towards the horse's head to shorten the noseband, or lower towards the lunge line attachment buckles to enlarge the noseband. - To use rope reins with Mexican snap hooks, like our model at this link.
When the halter is new or little used, the fiador knot can deform if significant tension is applied to the rein. The simple knot is recommended for rein use and will not deform.
It is recommended to hand wash the halter in soapy water.
It is possible to machine wash the halter by taking a few precautions:
- Use a laundry net
- Close your halter by tying the headpiece to the knot
- If your halter has a fiador knot, tie an elastic on both sides of the knot so that it doesn't move in the machine
- Place it in a full machine
- Short program and light spin: 30 minutes, 30°C, 800 rpm
